LWV Tackles Voter Disenfranchisement in the States (NEW)

Information on Phase II of the League’s Public Advocacy for Voter Protection project (PAVP) is available online. This
project has been created to help bolster the League’s capacity for continuing and expanding its critical state-based
advocacy to prevent the disenfranchisement of eligible citizens, particularly underserved populations.

Presidential Candidate Voters’ Guide Available

Thanks to the collaboration between members of the Maryland, National Capitol Area, and Virginia Leagues and the
LWVUS/EF, the 2008 Presidential Primary Voters’ Guide is available. We have responses from: Biden, Clinton,
Edwards, Obama, and Richardson on the Democratic side and Giuliani, McCain, Paul, Tancredo, and Thompson on
the Republican side. Only Dodd and Romney were invited to participate and chose not to. We ended up with an 83
percent response rate, which is a testament to the League.

You can download a complete pdf of the Voters’ Guide from
VOTE411.org. While the posting of this information on
your Web site or linking to
VOTE411.org is completely optional, we encourage all Leagues to take advantage of this
useful voters' service product. Interested Leagues may also choose to incorporate the information from the
LWVUS/EF Voters’ Guide into their own state/local Voters’ Guides by following these rules.

Press Reports Highlight the League's Support of Disenfranchised Voters (NEW)

Read an NPR story featuring the League's amicus brief on behalf of voters in a landmark voting rights case being
argued before the Supreme Court. The story points out that the League's brief provides "concrete examples" of
disenfranchised voters. Also read a
USA Today article that notes the League's work on behalf of disenfranchised
voters.

You Can Give And Receive!
A charitable gift annuity is an excellent way to support the League while ensuring your own financial future. A
charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and the League, by which the League agrees to make fixed
payments for life to you and/or someone else you choose, in return for your gift of cash or marketable securities. You
can establish a League of Women Voters charitable gift annuity for as little as $10,000; your rate of return is based
on your age and varies from 5.3% of the donation at age 50 to 11.3% at age 90 or over. Annuity payments can begin
immediately or can be deferred to some future date. (Not available to residents in AL, AK, CA, HI, ND, NY, MD, WA,
and WI). For more information contact
